NEW YORK. Oct. 30.—-One hun-
dred persons in various parts of the
country whose names appeared on a
"sucker list" police located today in
connection with the arrest of four
allegedstock swindlers. have asked
to come here in an efofrt to identify
the men and describe their dealing
with them.
Police say documents seized in-
dicate the quartette may have
cleaned up at least 840,000 during
the six months they are said to have
operated.
Opposite the names on the sucker
list were notations such as "he owns
a gold mine." "lots of money and
two failures but still interested."
"wants to meke 600 bucks quick
time." "wants to make $1.000\quick
turnover." "has 81,100.” “has 82.-
000 to invest." "has 310,000." The
last notation was opposite the name
of an individual living in South
Bend. Ind. Other notations were
"call on phone" or “send telegram."
A copy of a letter obtained ny po-
lice trom files of the brokerage con-
cern. addressed to a physician at
Woodcliff. N. 3.. informed him that
1,000 shares of stock at $1 a. share
were being forwarded to him. Police
say they have reason to belle-vs the
men had little stock to sell and that
there was little if any value to what
they did possess.
William F. Ellison. alleged brains
‘ of the group. was arrested early to-
day on information said to have been
furnished by one of the three other
men taken into custody on Saturday.
They are Albert Green. law student.
David Tannebsum and Alex Gotten-
iield. All four were held under $1.-
600 ball each. pending a hearing
Thursday. They are charged with at-
tempted grsnd larceny. '
Ellison. police say. learned the
routine of the brokerage business by
working in broker's offices. The ar-
rests followed infermation given the
police by Mrs. Anna Henderson. of
Brooklyn. a widow. whose suspicions
were aroused when one of the men
visited her in reference to stock.
