phasis will be placed on better
breeding; its necessity is indicated
by the fact that the average produc-
tion of milk per cow in the United
States is only a little more than
4,000 pounds a year. when it has
been established there is seldom
profit made with cows yielding less
than 5,000 pounds a year. ,
Boy and girl judging teams will
come to the exposition from 20
states and boy and girl demonstra—
tion teams from 17 states. More
than 20 states have entered more
than 100 calves, showing the work
the exposition is accomplishing in
giving the younger generation an
abiding interest in farming.
' Highways
There are more than six and a
quarter million farms in the United
States worth in excess of seventy
billions of dollars. a. sum in excess of
that invested in any other three in-
dustries of the country. Any up-to-
date farmer tilting more than 80
acres knows that. given a road over
which he can travel, he must. have
a truck or lose money to his compe-
titor who has one. Assumming for
the purpose of argument that one-
third of the farms in America are 80
acres or more. it is obvious that
more than two million trucks are
needed on farms alone.
The present yearly production of
trucks serving tarnls is probably not
in excess of 1111193. million. The rea-
{son why use lags so far behind nec-
essity is the fact the. t the trucks

do travel over less than three hun-
