Recent and Palace Today.
Pola Negri. one of the brightest
screen stars of the day. makes her
appearance in her second American
made picture ”The Cheat," which
will be presented at the Regent
and Palace Theaters today. To those
who Witnessed the showing in this
city recently of “Bella Donna." Miss
Nerzi’s first American made picture,
it may be said that the latest release.

recognized as an artist. her foreign
made pictures, because of their lack

ideals did not satisfy. A big advance
was made in "Bella Donna." and it
seems that "The Cheat" goes all the
way and accomplishes that Ameri-
cans have wanted to see accomplish-
ed in the case of this star. Jack
Holt supports Miss Negri and she is
otherwise surrounded by a. brilliant
company that should make “The
Cheat" one of the foremost screen
releases. Riginaid Denny will also be
presented on the same bill in a new
series of "IA-ather Pushers."
Rialto Today

lights marked the premier showing
of "Eulldog Drummond." at the
Rialto theater this afternoon. Not
only did the audience drink it in
with a. relish. but responded with a
warmth unusual to Norm-ails au-
diences. Being melodrama. it is more
effective on the spinal column than
on the ribs. though the few bits of
comedy are admirably handled with
a finish that lost them none of their
intended weight.
