Plans for Big Aflair
at New Britain Sept.

The Frank C. Godfrey Post. No
American Legion. held its reguv
lar meeting last night at its quarters

street.
Plans were mscuzsed for sending
a large delegation from the local
post to New Britain on SEptcmber
15, to take part in the parade on. the
closing day of the state convention.
which will be .1116 there beginning
September 13. According to the pres-
ent plans, a large number of mem-
bers of the local post will go to that
city and participate in the parade.
This is expected to be one of the
greatest affairs in the history of the
American Legion in this state.
Norwalk is in line for be next
state convention of the state depart
inent of the American Legion. but it
is not thought that the local post
will accept it this year because of thr
lack of proper hotel accommoda
tions. The convention was turned
down last ‘61:" by the local post on
this account.

Norwalk slaughter houses are af-
fected by a bulletin issued by State
Commissioner of Health Sisal-3y H.
Osborn. a copy or which was re-
ceived today by Dr. Robert B. Per-
due. health officer. Under the new
regulations adopted by the Public
Health council. proprietors of
slaughter houses must obtain a' per-
mit. to operate and run such places
from the local health officer. The
bulletin also deals ‘Wlth the insani-
tary condition of slaughter houses.
Under the new regulations. prac-
tically all of the Norwalk slaughter
houses wil have to make aterstions
and imprOvements. Many of the al-
terations will * be quite_ extensive.
Herotofore local slaughter houses
Lcould operate without a permit. The
bulletin in part follows:
”There has been a noticeable in-
crease in nuisances referred to this
department by health officers. in re
gard to Iii-unitary conditions of
slaughter houses. This showed the
need of regulations. and the Public
Health council accordingly adopted
certain regulations 'in regard to
slaughter houses at a meeting held
on July 18: 1923.
"These regulations

The sanitary code adopted by the
Public Health council reads:

where business of slaughtering beef.
poultry. or swim- or preparing the
same for mswct. is carried on. and
