Dougherty. referee of the Dempsey-
Gibbons fight at Shelby. and close
personal friend of the heavyweight
champion. was so impressed with the
exhibition of Luis Angel Firpo in
beating down Charley Weinert last
Monday night he is going to make a
special trip to Saratoga to warn the
champion to get himself into the
best shape of his career for his com-
ing bout with the man from the
Argentine.
"If Dempsey beats this fellow
Firpo." Daugherty said today. "it will
fighter than any heavyweight of all
time. The man I saw knock out
