Aug. 5. - “The State’s case against Ward is practit- eally ready. I see no reason at the present time why we should not go to trail on September 4. ere were called before the extrao . grand jury. which on July :8 indicted Ward for the murder of Clarence Peters. eeventy~two witnesses. In addition to these witnesses, there are several other important witnesses who will be called by the prosecution when the case comes to trial." This was the statement of Thomas J. O'Neill. Yonkers attorney. who has been made a Special Attorney General to handle the Ward case. He continued: “Of course. I cannot divulge the identity of these witnesses.
