Motor cars and trucks registered in
the United States on July 1st. totaled
13,048,128, according to a survey just
completed by automotive industries.
This was a gain of 2.440.000 over July
1st, 1922 total. an increase of about
23 per cent. Registrations have a]-
ready passed the December. 1922. high
mark by 083.751. thus indicating that
the final 1923 figures will show an-
other gain of 1,000,000 or more. ‘
Every state had more vehicles
registered than on July let. a year ago
while 37 states have already gone over
teh final total.

Pointing to the success that Connec-
ticut has achieved in cutting down
motor fatalities through its system of
intensive traffic supervision. “‘llliam
J. Cox. engineer in charge of tramc
and accident research. in a report to
the National Bureau of Casualty and
Surety Underwriters. recommends
similar supervision of the whole coun-
try.
Similar results have been obtained in
but two other tates. Mr. Cox points.
Massachusetts and Maryland.
