his arrest on a. charge or having
no front marker on his truck
and subjected to a long interrogation
by the police. Joseph Martinelli, of

owned by Robert Anthony. side-swip-
ed the truck, driven by Edward Tam-
many.- ot Greenwich. threw Worden
under the wheels of the Tammany
truck. instantly killing him. The ac-
cident happened cu the Post Road
shortly before noon. Monday.

tion by Coroner John J. Phelan. of
Bridgeport. who will hold an inquest
at Greenwich. Saturday afternoon. He
was turned over to Captain Patrick
Flanagan or the Greenwich Police
Department yesterday.

ner ot Main and Bank Streets yes-
terday morning. Patrolman Henry Ne-
vins stopped Mnrtinelli and placed him

on the front of his truck. liaving been
notificd by witnesses of the accident
of the day previous that the number
of the truck was 11.288 and upon

11-268. the police examined the dri-
ver. After a lcnghthy questioning.

Has a Big Problem

The Rowayton library roll call pre-
sents a. vexing problem in arithmetic.
The annual budget is $400 and with
only a few districts missing the re-
turns are less than $150.

Supported solely by voluntary sub-
scriptions the library has been con-
ducted for 20 years. As these years
included the war appéhls and the
business depression following the
war. there can be no question of the
library's right, to live or of its will to
serve. A policy of retrcnchmcnt now
would be to admit defeat.

Many homes have not yet been.
reached and it may’ be that among‘
the newcomers to llowayion. the sin.
tus of the library has not been up.
dcrstood. Every one's help is asked
so that the maintenance of the li-
brary may be assured.
