Miss Ann Elizabeth Hughes. daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. James Hughes. of
Judah Island. and niece of the late
John McMullen. became the bride or
Dr. Joseph J. Millard. dental surgeon.
and the son or Mr. and Mrs. Samuel
Millard. of Grandview avenue at 8:30
this morning in St. Joseph's church.
The ceremony was performed by Rev.
Dennis Hurley. pastor or the church.

The wedding was a quiet attair
only immediate members of the fam-
ily attending the church ceremony.
Following the services. a wedding
breakfast was served at‘ the home of
the bride's parents.

The bride. who is well known
socially. was dressed in white georg-
ette. She carried a bouquet or white
orchids and lillies of the valley.

The matron or honor was Mrs Ro~
land Loop. 01 Brandon. Oregon. a sis-
ter of the bride.

The best man was Frank Kelley. of
New Canaan. world war veteran and
basketball and football star.

The couple left late in the torenoon
for an extended honeymoon. Upon
their return. they will make their
residence on Judah Island until their
new home, under construction in
Quintard avenue. is completed.

Dr. Millard is a prominent figure in
the dental profession. He maintains
offices in the First District and in New
Iork city.

Dr. Millard is a graduate of the
New York College of Dentistry. He
has been practicing for eight years.

Upon the outbreak of the World
War. Dr. Millard volunteered his serv-
ices and was attached to the 308th In.
{entry of the 77th division. lie served
with honors for two years; a. large
part spent overseas and was dis-
charged with a rank or captain Dr.
Millard is a member of the Norwalk
and \Vestpnrt Country clubs: of the
Canadian club. New York city; and
the 77th Division association.

the movie stars in Hollywood. At the
Motion Picture Exposition opening in
Los Angeles. the Y. \V. C. A. Studio
Club has been asked to act as hostess
{or women visitors. -

All the famous screen actresses are
to be present. Elaborate exhibits of
the motion picture industry are now
open {or the month of July and are
already thronged with visitors.

"A building built for the purpose
between the Court of Honor and the
Women’s Court has been oflered to
us." says Miss Marjorie “‘llllums. "It
is headquarters for all women visitors.
Many of our o'wn resident members
who are screen actresses will assist
us. Our girls are so much in demand
for community affairs that it is dim-
cult to make the public understand

had not won. she confessed. but had
come out to Hollywood anyway to get

The appeals that come to the Club.
according to Miss Williams. are many
and varied. "One caller who called
for advice asked tor our help and
protection. She explained that her
husband, a screen actor earning over
three hundred dollars a week. was
paying attention to another woman
and neglecting her and her two chil-
dren. 'I thought that when “'ill
Hayes was appointed that he was
going to look after things like that
and see that they didn't happen.‘ was
her comment."

Many well~known visitors to Holly—
wood are frequent guests at the Club.
among them Margaret Widdener. the
poet. The Club harbors many young
women of wide screen and theatrical
experience. rapidly becoming known
in their profession.

Due to its popularity the capacity is
at present greatly overtaxed. Last
spring a campaign in which the whole
as money. was active in raising funds
movie colony, including Mary Pick-
i‘ord who gave time and ideas as well
{or a greatly enlarged club house.
