cent or their yearly salary. This
stock will be bought for them at the
market price. and they need pay only
10 Per cent of the purchase price. the
company loaning the other 90 per
cent at 5 pore cent interest.
In addition the company will pay
a premium or 84 per share per year
for ilvs years to an employee pur-
chasers. This will net the employee
12 1-2 per cent on his investment.
Announcement of the plan was made
at a meeting of the management with
all Yale & Towns employees or a
managerial or supervising capacity.
President Walter C. Allen addressed
the gathering and outlined the ad-
vantages of the plan in detail. Im-
mediately he had concluded applica-
tions for stock were called out by
tully a dozen employees. It was ap-
parent the innovation had met with
popular approval from the beginning.
At the present time. it was announc-
ed yesterday by company officials, the
stock is worth 864 a share (825 par).

case of parental cruelty was bared
here today when a tencyear-old girl

The parents. whose names are
Tpelo. Miss. The child was born
with a. twisted leg. The parents.
seeking to conceal their deformed
daughter. prepared a dungeon beneath
their home. It was only when a
plumber. summoned by the owner of
the house and unknown to the par-
ents of the child. was repairing pipes
that the situation was discovered.
Plumber Finds Child.
The plumber heard unusual noises
coming from behind a wall against
which he was working. He noticed
that the dimensions of the basement.
as viewed from where he was labor-
ing. seemed out of proportion to the
rest. of the house. The strange noises

the hospital. The authorities kept
secret the names of her parents out
of pity for the child. Citizens of
Memphis. however. are understood to
be demanding that such a terrible act
by parents be investigated and the
guilty ones punished. ‘
For 'three years the girl has been
at. the hospital. unable to move from
her cot and seemingly dying. She
has not spoken since she entered the
hospital. her vocal cords presumably
having been paralyzed by lack of use.
or. perhaps. wrecked from constant
cries of terror in the dark dungeon.
She was named after the Sister Su-
perior of the Hospital Mary Alexia.

normal condition. mentally and physi-
cally. has failed. It is accepted as
inevitable that the girl must remain
there. a charity patient.
