All over the state there is s move-
ment among the savings banks to in-
crease the interest rate. This was
done in the louver part of Connecti-
cut some months ago. The increase
is now reported from several of the
cities further inland.
The latest announcement is by the
“'nterbury Savings bank. which has
deposits amounting to $12,300,000.

per cent.. with the next dividend dec-

There is little doubt that it is pos-
sible for most savings banks to pay
this additional interest in view o: the
