passed by.the Legislature in the close
ing days or the recent session were
vetoed yesterday by Governor Tem-
pleton. The bills disapproved proposed
vacation work certificates to eligible
ificatlons to practice in other states.
For example the graduates of a cer-
tain medical school are accepted in
Connecticut and in only six other
states; that is forty-one or the forty-
eight states bar the graduates of that
school it ia high time that something
should be done to relieve the public
from the danger of falling into the
hands of unskilled practitioners. by
whatever name they may call them-
selves. ' “ ° This bill is a step back-
ward.
“This bill was hurriedly drafted in
the last days of the session. It seems
wise, that so important a subject
should go over until it can have the
careful attention it deserves. 1 dis
approve of the bill.‘
The memorandum stating the, gov-
ernor's reasons for vetoing the bill
validating licenses unlawfully issued
to certain physician: now practicing in
the state. follows in part:
“For the protection of the public
I hereby disapprove House Bill 942.
entitled ‘An act validating certain
certificates or licenses to practice moe
diclne and surgery.’
"This bill validates certain licenses
issued on recommendation of the
‘electric board' to some twenty per.
sons who graduated from medical in-
stitutions of a. dillerent school of prac-
tice or else from inaututions not rec.
ogniaed as reputable by the eiectio see
cieiy. By so doing it admits to gene
eral practice persons who have not
passed examinations required by exist-
ing law. ~

and received an easy diploma.”
