The C. F. L. club of Center school
enjoyed its annual picnic at Roton
Point. The outing was greatly on-
Joyed by 60 school children. The C.
F. L. club was in charge of Principal
Alfred F. Standish. The Fitch school
chapter. directed by Mrs. Arthur
Standish, and the North Center
school chapter in charge of Miss Lil-
lian Standish. also attended the out-
ing. During the day athletic events
were in order.

The annual college entrance exam-
inations in Norwalk commenced this
llini‘ning at the Hillside school gym-
nasium. The examinations will be
held during the rest of the week. The
examinations this year are in charge
of Mrs. J. Benton “'erner. Frank \V.
Gregory of Newtown avenue. declined
to take charge of the “exams" al-
though he conducted them for the

past six years.

events will be awarded I» medal. It is
expected that some keen competition
will be had in the various events. The

S. Clark. formerly pastor at Roway-

college in Pennsylvania. receiving her
sheepskin on June 4th. She expects
to enter the Cincinnati Conservatory.
She has had seven years in glee club
work. and has traveled two seasons
with her college glee. club in the cities
of Pennsylvania. l’hil. Clark. whom
his many friends will recall. has also
made good during is freshman year
in Oberlin. and by his genial manner
and likeabie disposition has endeared
himself to his entire class and the
faculty as well. The Rev. M'f. Clerk
is preaching to very large congrega-
tions in his church at Blanchester.
Ohio. and during the five months that
have elapsed since leaving Rowayton.
seems to have secured for himself a
large place in the affections of the
community. He has been presented
with a fine Victor talking machine by
his men. Mrs. Clark's Sunday school
class of girls of high school age is a
Sunday school In itself. Their main-
ory of the kindness shown by their
llowayton and South Norwalk friends
is very fragrant and they wish to be
held in kindly remembrance by all.

The need of n. traffic officer at the
corner of Riverside ave. and State St. ‘
was demonstrated yesterday. At one
time there were 85 motor cars on
State street hill. Traffic was held up
for a considerable time 'at 6:30 p. m.
as there is no sign as to where to de-
tour.’ and cars going west often resch-
ed the part. of the road under repair
only to turn back and look for the de-
tour. This condition could be easily
remedied by the proper signs.
