RICKARD FOR WILLARD BOUT
South American Will Receive Big Purse for Bout—To Be
Held in or Near New York on-Juiy 7.
Senor Luis Angel Firpo has placed
his fine Italian hand on the document
which binds him to meet Jess Willard
on July 7 in this immediate vicinity.
according to an announcement made
by Tex Rickard yesterday. The bout
may take place at Boyle's Thirty
Acres. {or the people of Jersey are
inclined to believe that Jess Willard
is only a young fellow. Then again
it may take place at the Yankee
Stadium.
Mr. Rickard becomes reticent and a
bit pained when questioned as to how
much these two sterling gladiators will
receive. It is reported that “'lllard
is to receive 8150.000 for his share in
the afternoon's entertainment and
that Luis F‘irpo hold out until he re-
ceived a promise of approximately the
same amount. This perhaps is the
reason that Mr. Rickard looks so sad
when he is questioned as to the
amount of the guarantee.
