new Turkish constitution. Another
year later, the new Turkish army
routed the Greek forces at the door of
Angora: and after another year. in
1922. the Greek army was wiped out
completely and the independence of
Turkey assured.

NEW LONDON. May 10.—Reportl at
the end of the fourth week show that

raised in the effort to raise 889,000
for Connecticut College in 10 weeks
among the college's 800 alumnnc,
students and faculty. The New Hav-
en district jumped into the lead, in-
creasing its total from 8520 to 3180
during the week. New London con-
tinucd its good work and there was
a notable increase in gifts from out-
siders.

One of the biggest showings for the
first four months of any year since
1913, in the building history of Not--
walk, was given in the report for the
month of April of Building Inspector
George Hubbell, which was givcn to
the common council at its monthly
meeting held last night.
Permits for work aggregating.
3681190110 were granted during the
month, this work including 44 new
residences. eight store and apartment

The number of building pckmlts il-
sued during April shows an increase
over March of 42. or 1’6 per cent.
Plumbing permits issued have in-
permits. 46 to 66.
The total estimated cost of building
operations has increased from 8244, -
058. 00 in March to 8682. 190. 00 in
April.
The new construction includes 44.
residences, 8 ~ store and apartment
buildings. 5 manufacturing plants
and 34 garages.
