the government warehouse in Bridge-

on account of personal injuries was
being questioned recently by Judge
Walton Wood to determine whether
or not it would be necessary to call
an interpreter to place her testimony
before the jury.
"How long have you lived in the
l'nited States?” the court asked.
“Seven years." was her reply.
“\\’here did you live before that?"
the judge queried.
"Cincinnati." she answered.
The judge sent for an interpreter.

NEW AGREEMENT AVERTS
ELM CITY BAKER STRIKE

NEW HAVEN. May 4.—-Despite the
existing strike among boxers in sellzral
parts of the country. those employed
locally have amicably settled their dif-
ferences and no strike will result. The
agreement was signed by the master
bakers yesterday and was approved by
the local union at a meeting last night.
The new agreement provides for the
restoration of a $4 a week average
