George Weiss of the New Haven base-
ball club announced yesterday that
“Lefty" Davenport. a \Vhite Sox
pitcher. is on his way here to Join
the Profs.
Davenport was expected tonight
and is expected to mound duty in
tomorrowfs game with \Vaterbury at
Weiss Park. It is said that the box-
man comes to the Profs in connection
with the deal. whereby Frank Wood~
ward went to the Sox.
The acquisition of Davenport means
that the Profs now have a staff of
four southpaws—Baumgartner. Hy-
man. Fried and Davenport.
Herman Knocks Out
Sieger in One Round
Babe Hermanof California knock-
ed out Sammy Sieger of the east side
in two minutes of the first round at
the Pioneer Sporting (fluh last night.
As the bell rang Herman stopped
from his corner. felnted twice and
then hooked a left to the body. As
Sieger dropped his arms the Califor-
nian swung a right to the jaw.
