unnecessary hardship. Not only
during her course of training. but
later in practice from physician
and patient. And why 1 Because
she has been considered an inferi-
or being. Someone close to a
menial.

been-deterred from entering the

The. new, school will-do much to
alleviate this condition. The greatv
significance of the school is that

establishes a professional reputa-
tion. By eliminating unnecessary
drudgery it does away with an un~
pleasant feature of training. By
providing formal courses in tech-
nical and social work essential or
desirable for a nurse 'it increases
the positively pleasant features of
preparation. The result should in
time be what is hoped for——the in-
terest of more women fitted for
professional work in nursing, and
the consequent improvement of the
standing of nurses in certain re-
spects. And with this improve-
ment should come an attraction
for additional women of character
and ability. The school should
end in increasing quantity by be-
ginning with an increase in quali-

The Old Home
President Harding shows a de-
gree of sentiment that many peo-
ple do not entertain much now,
when he bought the old farm
where his boyhood days were
passed. In these times when peo-
ple move about the country so
rapidly, a great number of them
have no special attachment to any
one place. They perhaps never
visit again their old homes, as
there were so many of them that
no one stands out in their minds.
The retention of this affection
for one ’3 childhood home is a
friendly kind of sentiment that
more people ought to feel. A lot
ioI’ fonts may have spent their
childhood in one place, but they
retain no strong attachment for it.
If their old home wds a modest
one,_they may look on it with a
certain contempt.
If those people had the right
attitude, that old home would be
very dear to them. They would
