Complaint was made to the police
yesterday about the dangerous condi-
tion that existed on South Main street
by the old Hotel Clifford, where some
of the tin cornlco projected over the
street, constituting a menace to pedes-
trians. during the high wind. as it was
feared it might blow into the street.
The owners of the building were noti-
fied. and secured the cornice.

The high wind yesterday snapped
off one of the pine trees in the yard
adjournlng the home of Miss Frances
Hard. 42 West avenue. at a distance
of about 25 feet from the ground.
The tree fell over the top of Miss
Hurd's home. striking the ridge pole.
At the point of impact. the tree again
snapped. and today is hanging over
the entire house. No mtcriatdamage

Concerto" under the auspices of the
Everready Circle of the King's Daugh-
ters. was given last evening at the
Home Hoes-company hall. to an
audience of a hundred or more. who
by their W'spplause appreciated
the work'of tffe ' vocalists. just. as
much as they did at the first rendi—
tion. given‘ on;- Monday evening.
Special mention shouid be made of
the work of the chorus which showed
the careful training-that they had re-
ceived. The solo work was splendid
and was well received. Mrs. Oliver 1.
Clark. who sang "Believe Me. If All
Those Enduring Young Charms"
pleased a great number. while the solo
of Frank H. Nash of Norwaik. was
so well received that he was forced
to respond with an encore. All of the
singers deserve credit for the splendid
performance given by them. All of the
returns from. the concert are not in as
yet but it is believed that the ereasury
of the Circle has been swelled to
generous proportions by the support
given them in their effort.
