Matter Trivial and Out-
growth of Irritation.
Commenting last night on I. bill in~
trodueed in the Legislature calling for
an investigation of his office. State's
Attorney Homer S. Cummings declar-
ed that the matter was of no conse-
quence, merely being insigated by
James J. O'Brien, 0! New York, who
was irritated because he. Mr. Cumm-
ings, would not order the arrest of
several prominent Bridgeport people.
“It is a matter of no consequence
iwhatevcr," said the State's attorney,
"‘Mr. O'Brien's activities are so Well
fknown that no comment is necessary.
llie was irritated because I declined to
garrcst some of the leading citizens or
ll'lridgcport on fictitious charges. I
declined to direct the arrest of several
leading citizens of Bridgeport on per-
fectly preposterous charges. That
is all there is to it."
The affair had its beginning in April
1922, when James J. O‘Bflen. of New
York instituted proceedings in the
Superior court against the Fairticld
Park Building Company and the Fair-
ticld Park Land Company, both of
Bridgeport. O'ilrirn, who claimed to
own 34 per cent of the stock or the
concerns, asked for the. appointment
or temporary receivers and dissolution
of the company. charging Percy And-
mson, or Bridgeport, one or the of-
ficers and director of the building
company, with cmlwzzlcmcnt of 34.700
The. plaintiff also alleged that he had
last considerable money through mis-
