RACTICALLY the entire world's supply of crude rub-
ber today comes from British, Dutch and American
plantations in the East Indian Islands.
It is gathered by
natives who work for between ten and fifteen cents a day—
practically
the lowest wages in
the world. Each native
gathers between three and four pounds of rubber daily.
Against these low labor costs n00
