Trying desperately tor a knockout
punch that would end the battle.
toting Buddy and Frankie FitPat-
rich. lightweight; fought through is
desperate rounds to a draw in the
main bout at the Elk auditorium last
night and at the end lott the ring ox-
hsusted. Both were bathed in orim-
son. The crowd stood on chairs and
cheered as the tighter- iott the ring.
It was the second time the two had
come together within the past three
weeks with the same result-a drawn
battle. ~

They didn't waste a second. At the

From then on it was give and take.
Both were left handsrs and both used
n Jab varying this with a right t o
the body. Fit uncovered a loft Jab
that sent Buddy's head back and cut
his mouth.

The second was a repetition of the

and causing Ruddy to miss. .
in the third round Flt played for
the stomach with his left and kept
swinging his right to the head. Ruddy
stumbled and slipped between the
ropes. Fit saved him from failing.

From then on to the eighth round,
the battle was even with now one
and now the other sacking rights to
the stomach and lofts to the head.
The crowd was delirious. Just as the
bell clangod in the eighth Fits sunk
his right in Buddy's stomach. A
film came over Buddy’s eyes and his
knees wobbled as he sought his‘cor-
her. The bell saved him from a
knockout.

The ninth was even.

In the tenth both came out of
their corners determined to end it.
They met in the center of the ring
and stood toe to too swapping
punches. The crowd was standing on

chairs. delirious with excitement and

begging the fighters to send over a
kayo.

The eleventh saw them at it ham-
mer and tongs and the battle ended
in the final session with both ex-
hausted. It is doubttnl it either
muld have gone another round.
