An increase in the number of judges
of the Superior court is probable,”
the judiciary committee reported to-
day favorably on the bill creating two
additional judges for that tribunal.
The number would be eighteen. and
seVeral names have been mentioned
as likely appointees to the new
places including thoae of Senator Elle,
of \Vatcrbury and Speaker Nieker-
son, of Cornwall.
The antivstrikc bill of the Connec-
ticut Manufacturers' Association,
which was adopted by the 1921 House
and rejected bV that Senate. was
rejected by the Senate today as it had
been. withdraun. There was a con-
ference last week which resulted in
an agreement between Ralph 0.
Well, for the Manufacturers' Associ-
ation and Senator Tone (Democrat)
representing organized labor, by
which not only was the anti—strike
bill to be abandoned but the bills of
Senator Tone concerning “trade dis-
putos" and "intimidation," were also
to be withdrawn. Th‘e latter two
hills which promised to produce much
iltbnte. '1his practically leaVes he-

only those relating to hours of labor

Lanahan. a chauffeur. today shot and
killed his brother-in-law. James J.
:Hart. probably fatally wounded his
wife. Rose Lonahan. and then com-
mitted suicide. The shootings oc-
curred at the Hart-Lanahan home in
Rensscaer.
Hart. who was years old. was
employed as a, brakeman on the New
