safety car he was operating crashed
into a furniture van at Hartford ave-
‘nue and Hope street. Springdaie. at
10 last'nlght. McMahon was given
emergency treatment by Dr. Ralph W.
Crane. and taken to his home.

owner and operator of the motor
truck was taken in custody by the!
police on a. charge of violating the
motor vehicle law and released in $50
bonds. It is claimed there were no
lights on the truck. ‘ ~

According to the story told the p6-
lice, Cornelius. who is in .the furniture
moving business was discharging I.
load of furniture at ahouse on Hart-
ford avenue and parked the truck ‘in
an adjoining alleyway.
a boy in charge of the machine. and
it is claimed the youngster accidental-
ly started the truck in reverse. It slid
dowri the alleyVlaY. aided by an incline
and stalled directly in the path or the
trolley car.

McMahon claims there were no
lights on the truck and he was un-
aware of an obstruction on the track'
until the impact of the collision hurl-
ed him from his position. The front
vestibule oi the safety car was smash-
ed and the furniture truck badly dam.

being the life of David. This was il-
lustrated with many pictures in beau-

VVhen Franklin Guardman and his
newly W't-dded wife were about ready
to leave for the “fest, wife No. 1 con-
fronted the pair and Guardman
"dropped dead." Examination failed
to reveal any trace of life. and an un-

dertaker was called. He took the
body to his establishment. the two
wives following. They arrived in time
to confront Guardman. who came out
of his trance when a physician applied
restoratives.

Guardman shivered snow white and
for a time it was believed that he
would pass out again. A charge of
blgamy was made against him by wife
No. 1.

The “Every Member Campaign" a

yearly budget or the Norwaik M. E.
church, was started Sunday under the
auspices of the Finance committee
of the church. Bright and early,
teams of two persons, were sent out
krom the church to canvas the par» =
lab and obtain pledges of annex-Li
First results show that the canvas
will be a big success and the amount
of money raised will exceed that of
last year. The canvas will ,be con-
tinued during the entire week. _
