STAMFORD. March 12.—
Hurled to the pavement of the Post
Road. 300 yards from the Half-Way-
House, Darien. shortly after 6 Sunday
night. when struck by in automobile.
bearing a New York registration ii-
cense. lir. and Mrs. Jacob Reckert, of
Sinawoy road, Cos Cob, were hurried
to the Stamford Hospital in the police
ambulance. Mrs. Reekert suffered a.
fracture of the right leg and possible
internal injuries. Her husband. badly
shaken, was discharged after first aid
treatment.
Mr. and Mrs. Reckert were walking
to Hillside road. intent on boarding 3.
Stamford trolley. ‘ As the trolley ap-
proached. an automobile. traveling at
high speed. struck the couple as they
were about to board the trolley car.
The automobile swerved slightly in its
course. quickly regained momentum
and sped away. The license number
was not. ascertained.
Police headquarters telephoned sur-
rounding towns in an effort to over-
‘take the fleeing car but the escaping
motorists apparently had left the
main highway at Stamford. '
Patrolmcn llerzog and Tynes were
assigned to the chase but lost the
trail at the town line.
Hospital authorities said Mrs. Reck-
ert was resting more comfortably at
press hour. She complained of severe
pain and an X—rny examination will
be made this morning to determine
