ephone company, educational pro-
gram for the salespeople and the 012-
fering of quality merchandise at pur-
chase-impelling‘ prices, was under the
direction of the firm's,employcs. in
co-operation with the management.

every department of the store during
the sale. The employes were advised
of these specials each day before the
opening of business and ihen as many
cmployes us could, according to a. pie-
nrranged plan. telephoned to rela-
tives. ,i‘riends and acquaintances—
giving each such telephone call an
intimate personal warmth—to tell
them of the really attractive oifcrings
that. day and to invite them to take
advantage of these genuine price rc-
ductions. A curefully trained group
of salcswomcn were in attendance
upon the store telephones to accept
telephone orders. They were young
ladies selected for lllls work Because
of their pleasant telephone voices and
their "face to face" selling ability.

gram the telephone is the inexpens-
ive means of interesting the public.

BRIDGEPORT. Feb. 5.—Samuel
Lefaitz, No. 257 Beardsley street. ar-l
rested in connection with the alleged
theft of automokiiles in New York and
the sale of them in this city and vi-
cinity. was. today released from jail
on 85,000 bail offered by his attorney
George F. Mara. Of the bail offered
for Lefsitz's release $4.200» was in
Liberty bonds and $800 was in cash.
Lefsltz had already posted $10 000
bonds on the federal charge pending
against him. charging \iolation of the
Dyer act. transporting stolen automo-
biles across a state boundary line. this
$10,000 bond replacing the original
one of $15,000 fixed at the time of his
arrest.
chsitz was arrested by slate police
at the same time the Goldy brothers
were taken into custody. \he first ar-
rest being on the federal charge. On
the local charge on which he was later
taken into custody he was bound mer
to the Superior court in bonds of $5.-
~000, which bond is the one that was
poated today.

Miller is alleged to have had his
automobile repaired in the Bridgeport
Radiator Co.'s shop in Elm street. and
is charged with tendering a check‘in
payment for the work when he did not
hme funds in the bank to meet the
check.

Eleanor Mayo Raymond. of Bridge-
port has filed suit for a divorce in the
‘Superior court against Philip \V. Ray-
mond. of Norwalk. charging desertion
in December, 1919.and seeks alimony
and custody of two minor children.
They were married in November, 1909.
