Believed to be the foster daughter of Charles Reade, the
famous English novelist, Whose “Cloister and the Hearth"
is said to be the best written English novel, Mrs. Katie
Reade Shine has been located by the London authorities
in the Epping Poor Infirmary. Since Reade died in 1884
Mrs. Shine, according to her story, has been supported by

famous literary figures. In this photograph Mrs. Shine,
attended by a nurse, is glansing over pages of recent novel.
