against Merton A. Holmes. of New
Canaan ,to recover on a note of $140
dated Aug. 7, 1921, payable two
months after date. and for two tons
0: coal at $16.25 a ton. alleged to have
been delivered to the defendant on
Dec. 23. 1921, which it is claimed
have not? been paid. The case is re-
turnable to the Common Pleas Court
the first Tuesday in January.

Arthur A. Lal’orte of New York has

months after date and alleged to re-
main unpald. although maturity date
has expired. Atty. C. Milton Fesscn-

Gwendolyn Reid Watson of Engin-
wood. N. .I.. has brought suit in the
Superior Court against Mabel Reid
Tucker of Englewood. N. J.. and
Katherino‘Michclson of W'ashington,
asking for I. partition of real property
in Reddlng. Conn. owned jointly by
the plaintlfl and the defendants. The
property is known as the "Captain
Lemuel Adams l'lace." located at Ll-
brary Corner, in Reddlng. and con-
sists of a house, barn and three acres
of land. The plaintiff is a. widow and
the defendant were married subse-
quent to April 20, 1877.
Asks ".600 Damages.
Ruth Chall of Merlden, Conn., a
stenogtrapher. has brought suit for
Si 600 damages in the Superior Court
at New Haven. against Lilian \Vicks
i-dey, of New Canaan, as a. result or
an automobile collision on Aug. 14, '
1922. in which the plaintiff is allegedl
to have suffered permanent injuries
and disfigurement as a. result of the
careless and negligent operation of
the defendant‘s automobile, operated
by the son of the defendant.
The plaintiff was riding on the seat
at a Ford truck operated by Louis N.
Lal’orte, when the machine was in
collision with the vehicle owned by
Mrs. Eddy. It is alleged Miss Chall
received a. fracture of the nose. bruis-
es on the left side. strain oi: the right
side, two black eyes and severe shock
to the nervous system when thrown
out of the car. As a. result the com-
plaint states she has a. deformity of
the nose which makes it difficult to
breath. The complain further alleges
Miss Chall was laid up six weeks and
was unable to work at her regular
employment as stenographer and
spent $25 for physician's bills. Pro-
perty of the defendant in New Canaan
has been attached to the amount or
$2,000.
A sequel to the actio or Miss Chall
is the suit of Louis N. ..aPorte. driver
or the ["0er truck. on which she was
riding. LaPorte has brought suit
against Lillian \Vlckl Eddy in the
Common Peas Court at New Haven
for 8175 damages to his machine. and
for loss of business while the truck
was in the repair shop. _ He alleges he
was proceeding on the right side of
the road,“ s. cautious rate of speed
and the crash was due to careless
driving on the part of defendant's son.
who was at the wheel of his mother's
automobile. The acldent occurred at
Britanis. and Colony Streets in Meri-
den.
