Problem Solved.
The original order of the “for De-
partment contemplated the ensign-
ment. for a field artillery regiment.
This involved the expenditure of
many thousands of dollhrs and would
have made necessary the erection of
more suitable building: for the hous-
ing or the equipment. The order was
later-rescinded. however. thus reliev-
ing the State or a serious problem.
which confronted it.
In addition to the State range at
East Haven. rifle ranges have been
established at Danhury. Norwich and
Torrington on leased land. . Quarters
are also leased trout the Ninth school
district. South Manchester. for Ann-
ory purposes there.
The total appropriation for the fiscal
two-year period for the military de-
partment was $382,409.71. of which
$130,831.71 has been spent during the
year. leaving a. balance of 8201.668
available for the remainder of the
period.
The main item otexpenee was $39 -
960.“ for Armory heat. light aid
water. Amory repairs involved ex-
penditures of $1,355.53 during the
year.
