few months in the amount of loan
bonds held by the Bank ofi Japan.

uation. has published a statement in
which he says:
"Although there are people who a1,
hate that the Bank of Japan has been
burdened wit a large amount of loan
bonds. thereby causing- an inflation of

since the increase of loan bonds in the
possession oi? the bank ls more due
to‘that of foreign bonds than of do—
mestic bonds. .
”The increase in the amount of for-
eign bonds .is due to the fact that
prior to 1920 the foreign bonds pos—
sessed by the. bank abroad were in-
cluded in the amount or specie held
aboard. but since that time the bonds
have been separated from the specie
account and placed in the bond ac-
count. This. however. has not caused
an expansion of currency in any way."
