ating the propooed duty on potash and

embargo. licensing act for one year.
The vote to recommit the bill was 177

of its origin. In 1385 the move-
ment reached America and was
first introduced in Long Island
City. N. Y. The system has en- ,
joyed a steady growth since that
time. but only a comparatively
small percentage of the number of
school children in the country have
become enrolled as depositors.
It is worthy of note. neverthea

been introduced it has invariably
proved populhr with the children
