Over the protest of the Frank C.
Godfrey Post. No. 12; American
Legion. the Catholic ‘Union Council.
No. 46, K. of C.. was granted an ex--
tension of its carnival permit last
night by Mayor Calvin L. Barton. The
extension of the permit allowed the
K. of C. to- run its carnival Monday
and Tuesday nights inclusive.
Officials of the Legion protested
against $he K. of C. running its carni-
val longer than the original permit
called for. which was until August 5
on the grounds that the K. of C.
carnival would interfere to-‘a big ex-
tent with the rnlval which is being
held this week on the Réodner
grounds by the ex-service men. It is
upon this carnival that the legion de-
pends for funds to meet the expenses
of its organization throughout the.
year.
The A. ,L. carnival. however. will be
continued throughout the week. and
it is hoped that the carnival will be
patronized enough so as to meet the
expenses of the carnival which are
very heavy. There is free dancing
every night to music by Merriam’s or-
chestra and there will be a handsome
door prize each evening.
The American Legion has com-
;pleted arrangements for a big special-
entertainment for
night. At that time. the famous
Dunn Twins. noted entertainers who
have appeared in vaudeville as well
famous boxing act at the Roodner lot.
The Dunn Twinswere secured by the
legion through one of its many
friends. The act is bound to be a
drawing card and will make a big ap-
peal to the Norwalk public.
