lodged in the jail here, was shot: in the
arm and leg yesterday by Jailer Mar-
vin 8. Todd after he had attempted to
assault the jailer with a pail. Todd. it
is said. fired because he feared a gen-
eral jail delivery.
Laurla attacked the jailer while he
was returning from the dining-room.
and inthe altercation that. followed
seized a. pull and rushed at him. Todd.
fearing for the safety of the keys
'which he carried at his belt. tired
twice.
Lauria and his brother were await-
ing trial for the murder of John Sciso
sere of Canaan. who was killed August
3. 1921. by a gang. He was recently
brought from Newark. N. J.. on ex-
tradition papers and was identified by
