“When I started the work of tearing
it apart," she smiled, “it was comical
to see how many people protested.

where from. and said: “Don't tear that
old shop down: I was born there."

added and a little seat is by the front
door. But it still faces the Old King’s
highway and it still looks the same so
the old. old men are happy that their
landmark is not utterly gone.
Mrs. Snead did more than renew the
old house. She joined the old with the
new in a remarkable way. ‘
In Stamford. Harry Y. Snead. her
husband. was secretary of the Chum-
ber of Commerce. Now the Chamber
decided that Stamford would like a
stale trade school. but the Yale 8:
Towne people. mighty with their enor-
mous wealth. decided that. Stamford
did not need Qhe state trade school; in
