at the adjourned meeting of the Com-
mon Council held last evening in the
Council Chambers, City Hall. the im—
pression seemed to prevail that with
the $100,000 bond issue. authorized
at the election last fall. that Norwalk
was to have a park similiar to a com-
bination of Hallowe’en Park. Siam-
ford, and Seaside Park. Bridgeport.
and when it was learned that roads
would have to be built, which would
cost considerable there was objection
offered, some of the councilmen being
oppOSed to the plan at first. Council-
man Samuel J. Keeler said in lTis'opin-
ion that the city was being handed a
lemon. and that it would be spending
a lot of money for what it received.
Despite these objections. however.
the city on the motion of Councilman
George Ingham. authorized the issu-
ance of the bonds and have prepared a
request to be presented to the Board of
Estimate and Taxation tomorrow even-
ing, that the Board issue and fix the
form of the. bonds. as provided in the
art of Leeislature.
Other than the above discussion the

rendered by the attorneys during, a
period of about three years. The ser—
vices including litigation eonsisting of
two divorce actions. two replevin suits.
two conversion suits and one suit on a
bond. together with the preparation of
various contracts and agreements and
adjustment of fees of former attorneys
of the defendant whose fees had like-
wise been contested by Mr. Hawes. as
well as services rendered in connection
with the defendant’s private business
matters.
The defendant is understood to be a.
well—known real estate owner and
broker of Milford. The jury assessed
the value of the services at $3,482.50
and returned the verdict accordingly.
Ju John E. Light was one of the
expert. witnesses, who testified in re—
sponse to a hypothetical question, as
to the value of the services rendered.
