Shortly after this. some difficulty

tee lellned that the permit was to be

committee was confronted with ex-.
prcsslons that the committee had mis-

In View of this change of attitude.
the cl'nniVal committee was obliged

and the Common Council in order to

result of this conference was that the
permit stood as issued. The next ob-
strttction that the camiVal committee
had to 0Vercome was the rcV oking of
Mr. Roodner‘s permission to use his
lot on North Main street. Mr. Rood-
net, eVidently improperly influenced
by someone else. had revoked the
pfhile'm. but when the committee
waited. upon him. he unhealtatingly
ire-mm ed the permission after the mat-
ter was made clear to him.
All at the objections that had been
raised to the carniVal now haVing
been :tllly explained and made abso-
lutelv clear to every.body The matter
shcmnl to be satisfactorily rattled
and the show people in accordance
with their contract with the local
Moose Vver= rrady to deposit in cash
the required amount of $500. 00 in a.
local bank as their guarantee under
their contract on the opening day of
the caranal.
The carnival committee especially
agreed in writing to reserve the right
to stop any and all feature; of the
show that in the least was objection-
able from any stand-point to the

obliged to meet many “crimes in
their cflorts to carry out their work
but overcame each and every ob-
smcle.
In all statements and dealings with
all parties concerned with the matter.
the Carnival committee have been
absolutely frank in their expressions
and above reproach in their dealings
all through their conferences with
every individual with \vhom they con-
verged. There is absoiuely no reason
whatever that they should do other-
wise because it was a clean proposi-
tion and they did not need to conceal
or misrepresent anything.
The committee have. nothing but
words of praise for the mayor and
the members‘of the Common Council.
the Police commissioner and chief
and Mr. Roodner because they were
big enough and broad minded enough
to see that the whole affair was clean
handled with absolute trankncns and
that the merchants, people and the
Moose would derive a big benefit
from the carnival.
The purpose or the carnival was to
raise sufficient funds to cancel the
balance of the mortgage on the
Macao Home and this unsatisfactory
outcome has resulted in a loss to the
local Moose alone of nearly $2.000.00
or more.
The carnival committee take. this
means of acknowledging the benefits
they derived from the co-operation
of all persons in the matter and
heartily thank them for their efforts.
