The action of the stock market Sat-
urday came as a complete surprise to

tions. The movement in the oil stocks
on Saturday was so uniform as to
create the belief that important de-
velopments had occurrcd in the direc—
tion of improvinr. the market outlook
and improving the position of pro-
ducing. refining and distribution. Sin-
clar was favored by many important
interests in the all group because of
the expected results from the govern-
‘ment contracts It is understood that
Tennessee Copper and the Chemical
Corporation will go on a larger scale

more than $1,030,000 worth of crops
is feared by farmers residing in four
drainage districts north of Cairo. as
a result of rlood waters of the Miss-
issippi rix er. An area of approximate-
ly 75. 000 acres is being inundated and
all families in the districts have left
their homes for higher ground.
