suit for divorce. alleging cruelty. but
the husband declined to confirm this
or have anything to say about his re-
lations with his wife.
Barker had been living in Stamford
while working of late at his trade and
said. of inability to agree with his
wife. The police inquiry seemed to
bear out assertions made by acquain-
tances that Mrs. Barker had shown
signs of mental illness and only last
vweck she was said to have been in
Port Chester in a condition approach-
ing mental irresponsibility. '
The couple came here from Stam-
ford about six years ago. having come
from Albany. N. Y., shortly before
that. Mrs. Barker was about 32 years
of age. Mr. Barker :3 a carpenter by
trade.

Miss Amelia \Venderoth on Satur-
bday attended a meeting of the Wel-
fart: and Hospitalization committee
of the. American Legion Auxiliary held
in headquarters in New Haven. Miss
Wenderoth is chairman of the com-
mittee.
The most important busincss trans-
ucted‘it the meeting was a unani-
mous'vote' to include a woman from
each post on the state aid committees.
. This vote was approved by Frank S.
liuttcrworth. state chairman of the

to purchase two radio telephones for
installation in the Allentown hospi-

The conditions of the lnterclub
shoot were peculiar. The New York
Athletic Club nominated a team of five
men. Those competed against the
various other clubs who could enter
as many gunners as the pleased, al-
though only the five yhigh scores
counted. In the aggregate almost 300
gunners, representing some twenty
clubs, took part in the shoot.
