at Paris in 1924, will be upon a go-

A reading of the minutes of the
Olympic end International Amateur,
Athletic Federation conferences. held-
at Lausanne last season fails to dis-
cover any reference to “points." Mem-
bers of the American delegation ex~
plan-led the omission by the statement
that there were sewn] discussions
regarding the system under which
points should be scored at the Eighth
Olympiad. but that no agreement
could be reached. As a result. it was
decided that the point system should
be abolished. In the tuture each na-
tion can figure its points upon any
system desired. but no official cogniz-
nncc shall be taken of such compila-
tions.
It was learned that each nation
fought determinedly for its own me-
thod of point scoring. and when it was
realized that. there was no common
ground. the matter was dropped.
It is considcrcd probable that the
majority of the. nations competing at
Paris will simply record the placing
of the first three men or teams in each
cvcnt and lay their claim to athletic
supremacy upon the fact that they
won so many lists, seconds and,
