The annual report of the East Nor-
walk Improvement Association which
will doubtless prove of interest to
every resident of East Norwaik. and.
which was given at the annual meet-
ing of the Association held on the
afternoon of Tuesday. October 4th, is
given at length below:

and 5 directors' meetings have been
held. -

year.
The Association has received 3197
during the year from various friends
and organization and it has been an
inspiration to know that there is real.

The Corresponding Secretary has
written forty
notices of meetings and news items to
the press.
The Recording Secretary has kept
complete records of all business
meetings.
The Membership Committee has
brought .nearly forty new member!
into our Association. bringing the
number to 271. 56 being honorary
members.
The Visiting Committee has made
336 calls. an average of 28 calls each
month. Strangers in our community,
the sick and the shut~ins have: been
visited and we trust much good has
resulted from these calls. .
The School and Relief Committee.
while not called upon to do as much
Relief work as in former years. has
provided clothing for needy school
children and co-operated with others
in assisting the unfortunate.
Through the efforts of our Public
Service Committee the rail on the
Benedict Farms Bridge was repaired,
unsanitary conditions of certain.
stores brought to the attention of the
proper authorities. and the Town Im—
provement Association of Westport
assisted in the distribution and sale;
of tickets their
Pageant.
The House Committee has purchas-
ed over forty chairs. electric lamps.
brushes. etc. and made necessary re-
pairs. The gifts to the Hall include
a gas stove. white .enameled sink.
poles for firewood and a Victrola with
58 records.
The Grounds Committee has super-q
vised the cutting of the grass at Coma
munity Hall and placed appropriate
bronze markers about each memorial
tree. on the grounds as well as those
on the Triangle. A fine ornamental
tree has also been planted on the
grounds by a member of this Commit-
tee.
The shrubs and grass at the Rail-
road station have been trimmlrd and
cut by the Depot Committee which
has also cared for the hedge at the
Cemetery.
The Rental Committee has been ac-
tive in regard to the use of the Hall
and besides renting the building for

wishes of the Association in giving
the free use of the Trail for practice
basket ball games the young men of
our own community using it 40 times.
The Iloy Scouts were allowed lhe use
of the basement for drills each Fri-
day night and the Community Chorus
held (-ight meetings in the Hall.
The Entertainment Committee has
given two card parties. a Christmas'
party. a Cafeteria Supper and an af-
ternoon social. helping very material-
.ly to swell the funds in the Treasury.

The Club Committec has conferred
