10 per cent. tax on many commodities
and discussed placing on the articles
affected a. manufacturers’ tax of 3 per'
cent. The change would eliminate the '

Among the articxes changed are:
Hats in excess of 85 and caps in ex-
cess of $2: neckwear in excess of $2
each; shirts in excess of $3 each; un-
derwear in excess of $5.
The proposed substitute-:7 would an.
ply on the value above amounts .to Le,
fixed. The number of articles will pru-
bably be enlarged. The taxes would
yield $100,000,000 instead of $20.000.-
000 as now.

day. when. on investigation by Con-
stable Harry Palmer. it was
that Northrop did not have any driv-
er's license or motorcycle registration
with him. The motorcycle was held

ferent licenses. A fine of $10 and
costs was imposed. but the money
was remitted. however. due to the
financial condition of Northrop.

Beach. by the Greenwich Inn. on Sun-
