which was to distinguish him so great-
ly in the years to come,
When thirty-live years of age he be-
came interested in the manufacture
of toys in New York city. He pros.
pered exceedingly in this as in other

titty years he had his fortune made
and decided to retire. "
Mr. Knapp decided to come to Nor-
walk and he purchased the house and
property adjoining that in which he
had been brought up as a boy. Thus he
