description of the man was given the
parents of Coppola, but'it was found
that it did not tally with a description
of young Coppola.
An investigation then resulted, and
it was found that the man arrested
was Arthur William Pratt, of Darien
and Pratt’s Island, off Noroton, Conn.
Pratt told a Story to the effect that
he had been met in New York city
by a man named Rosenfield, who ask-
ed him to sell the car; Evidence ob-
tained by the New York police show—
ed that Pratt had obtained a license
and had registered the car at the 59th
Street License Bureau, about 4:30 on
the afternoon of February 14th, he be-
ing arrested about 6 o’clock that eVen»
ing, Coppola was last seen by his sis-
ter as he was leaving the “insliington
street bridge for Norwalk with a load
of passengers. This was at 1 o’clock
on the afternoon of the 14th.
The seat. of the car showed that an
attempt had been made to wash away
some slains. which proved to be blood
stains, and a pocket on the door of the
car. wherein Coppola is said to have
carried a. revolver, was torn. as if an
allempt had been made to wrench
something from inside it.
An investigation that lasted several
weeks and which took in New York
city: Pratt's Island. which was thorn
oughly combed by the Connecticut
State police. and the New York. as

today by Detective Lawlor. and held
under bonds of $5,000, in connection
with the robberies of freight cars
during April and 'May. He will be ar—
raigned tomororw before Judge Jacob
Caplan in the City Court.
A companion, Guiseppe Persi of Al-
linctown, who was arrested on a
charge of robbing freight cars, after
a trap was laid for him, had his case
continued until Friday, when he will
he brought in Farminglon for trial.
