One of the steam trawlers which

harbor the other night-
and reported that the waters of the
Sound of Bridgeport is comprised of
as menhaden, Whitefish or moss-bunk-

‘ ers.

The fleet which is operating in the
$011111 og Brideeport is comprised of
nine boats. and thfire have been im—
mense hauls for the past two weeks. .

They hail from Greenport. Long ls-
land and bringdbeir catches to the
factories near that port whet-e the oil
is extracted from the fish and the
refuse is turned into the fertilizer
‘ . The fleet meets the fish in the spring
on the fishing banks southeast of New-
foundland and follow the fish on their
journey south.

For the past 20 yearé’ «the great
schools of fish have “taken the outside
com-an 11d did not come through Long
Island ound brgt this year for some
unknown reason they have entered
the Sound in great numbers and the
fleet has followed them. making great

Icaiches every day.

Many good fish. including blues and
mackerel, have been taken in the
hauls for the past week. These are
sold in the markets.

'As the big blues and mackeral are

for food and always follow the course
