CAPT. BELL’S OYSTER BOAT
RUNS INTO A‘ SMALL BOAT
(Darien Review).

Mm. D. E Breinig of Butler's Isl-
and, had a narrow escape from drown
ing, Thursday. Mrs Breinig had taken
her daughter Geraldine and Elizabeth
Nickerson out in a small boat and had
anchored off shore and were fishing
when an oyster boat bore down upon
them and, apparently not seeing their
boat, ran them. down. upsetting the
boat. and throwing Mrs. Breinig and
the children out into the water. Mrs
Breinig grasped Elizabeth by the hand
and endeavored to swim to the boat
which had turned over. Geraldine
was not in sight and at lass: she was
seen coming up from beneath the
wreckage. By that time the boat
which was towed behind the oys r
boat came back and helped them out‘
of the. water. 2It was evidently a care-
less thing. Mrs Bremig says that
there were no persons in sight on the
oyster boat, as it came in, and if it
had not been for the fact that Mrs
Breinig is an expart swimmer. they
would have an been drowned. The
oyster boat was in charge of Captain
