ture of the left arm and his right. arm
'as amputated and he had injuries to
the head and was rushed to the bes-
pital in a private ambulance immedi-
ately after the accident.
The boy was playing near the
tracks with some other children when
he ran ahead and while on the east
bound track, did not hear the ap-
proach of the train, and was struck
by the fender. His body was wedged
between the ties on the trestle at
Westway road.
Passersby heard the screams of the
playmates and hurried t6 the scene.
A call was put in for the ambulance
and he was taken to St. Vincent's
where he was immediately operated-
upon.

disorders occurred in Venice before
the Labor Council of the city issued
an order Sunday calling off the gen-
eral strike which had been in pro-
gress there for several days. One
person was killed and about fifteen
wounded during a, fnelee that followed
an attack en the police commissioner
during which the officer fired on the
crowd. The strike resulted from dis-
orders in the garrison during which
a soldier was shot by an officer.

the identity of the murderer of Miss
Vera, ‘Schneider. 19 years old tele~
phone supervisor, who was found ear-

(in) the porch of an unoccupied dwell-

Arrival of bloodhounds from Man-
chester, Ohio, was awaited this morn-
ing. "To give the animals every so-
sistance in tracing the murderer, the
police roped off the space around the
house to keep the crowds from de-
stroying footprints about the place.
The ground surrounding the dwell-
ing, which was one of the city's best
residential sections, gave evidence,ac—
cording to the oflicers, that a struggle
had taken place.
The authorities have not yet obtain-
ed a description of the man with
whom Miss Schneider is said to have
been seen by friends about midnight
Saturday.

fering from a fractured skull and Miss
Mary Hennessey 22, New Rochelle,
N. Y., from internal injuries as a re-
sult of an automobile accident at
Westbrook. Conn. when the machine
in which they were riding with seven
other passengers, crashed into a. tele-
graph pole yesterday afternoon.
Both were taken to the Lawrence
and Memorial Associated Hospital
here. where it was said Ponder-3’ condi-
tion was critical. An X-ray examina-
tion will be necessai’y to determine
the extent of Miss Hennesaey's in-
