“Wedding :Bells," the brilliant
comedy by Salisbury Field in which
the Selwyns are presenting Margaret
_ Lawrence and Wallace Eddinger in
the Harris Theatre, New York, bris-
tles throughout with scintillating
dialogue which is none the lest: spark
ling in its wit because it achleves a
'a keen and clever commentary on hu-
man nature. The story presents the
case of Reginald Carter who is sul-
tering from one dislocated matrimon—
ial alliance while contemplating a.

Bells" are all but ringing out his sec
ond nuptials.
If Reggie hadn't put his shoes out-
side his door in a hotel in Santa Bar-
bara to be cleaned. and if ”Pinkie,”
an animated bit of flulf which Rosalie
insisted was a dog, hadn't taken a
canine fancy to the leather, there
would have been no occasion for‘the
“lingering," but this is what did hap-
pen befme the curtain goes up on
act One of Mr. Field‘s
comedy. Also there was a whirlwind
courtship of which the impressionable
' hero} and "Pinkie’s mistress were tne
principals. after which they} were to
have sailed for Japan. But they didn't
catch the boat. Reggie expressed
