From the above statistical table of
schools it is seen that the number of
Greek pupils is more than three times
that of the Bulgarians, which fact is
in complete agreement with the statis-
tical table of population where we
have seen that the Greek population
of the province is more than three
times as large as that of the Bulga~
rim.

it is worth noticing that as the Ger-
man Periodical Petermanns Millet
lungen. writes on the basis of the sta-
tistics published by the Bulgarianthli~
archaic. 69 of the Bulgarian schools
with 3.756 pupils are (in Western
Thrace that is in the’ districts of
Gh: wtnrzzldfina. Moustapha. Pasha and
Soui‘li, of the Province of Adrianople.
There remains then only 48 schools
with 2.290 pupils for Eastern Thrace.
By taking 80.0 to be the aver:
age percentage of pupils of the entire
Bulgarian population, we arrive at the
conclusion that the Bulgarian; cannot
number more than 75,575 souls. And

yet only recently the Bulgarians have \

submitted to the American Minister at

Sofia a memorandum in which they

claim that the Bulgarian nationality in

Thrace numbers more than 360.000. _
