midst of its bitter fight with war pro-
fiteers and those who sell food
through forbidden channels the Ba.-
varian government has found itself
seriously hampered by imperial am-
nestles, particularly by one issued in
Berlin on December 3. This amnesty
was so {munching and c‘nnpvehen-
hive that it freed virtually everyone
who had been locked up for anything
short of a capital crime. - It was an
amnesty for all crimes against mill;
tax-y law. the punishment» for which
did not exceed a certain number of
years of incarceration.
The Ministryof Justice is now mak-
ing every eflort to have enacted a
new set of lava, particularly aimed at
protiteering and the unjust division
and distribution of foodstufis which
shall not be affected by any amnesttes
that may be issued in the future.
