of experiments developing a machine
that would give perpetual motion. His
machine which was of most ingenious -
construction attracted considerable at-
tention in the mechanical world but
like hundreds of others came just a.
fraction short of attaining the longedI

moat a mania with him and it was al-
most a decade before he would aban-
don the idea.
He then perfected a most practical
door and window screenmade entirely
of metal. and after placlng much of
the stock throughp pfrsonal efforts the
United States Meta Screen Company
was organized in this city in 1912 and
began the manufacture of the
screens on a large scale at 25 Grand
street, with Mr. Banks as the mana-
ger. The company prospered for a
while. but went out of existence some
two years ago.
Since that time he has lived quietly
.at his home in “'ilton.
; He is survived by his wife.
